The Opportunity
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Executive Level 1 Senior Photographer within Design Integrity & Collections Branch.
AUSPIC provides photographic services to the Australian Parliament. Its work includes documenting historically significant parliamentary events, such as the Opening of Parliament, national memorial services, or Guest of Government visits.
AUSPIC also undertakes work requested by individual parliamentarians under their photographic entitlement and provides a fee for service to other Commonwealth agencies.
Who we are looking for
The successful applicant must have strong leadership and management skills, professional qualifications in the field of digital photography, a high level of skill managing PC platforms and a variety of databases and software applications that includes digital asset management systems, such as digital editing software and Fotoware image library or equivalent is desirable.
Press gallery or other media experience is an advantage.
NOTE: The occupant of this position may be required to undertake out of hours work on both evenings and weekends.
Job Specific Requirements:

• The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

Duty Statement

Section:
Immediate supervisor: Head, Design Integrity and Collections
Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Executive Level 1 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Lead a small team to deliver high quality and timely digital photographic services to parliamentarians and parliamentary and public service departments.
2. Contribute to the creation of a photographic record of the life of the Australian Parliament, including photographing significant parliamentary events.
3. Develop and maintain professional relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including parliamentarians and departments.
4. Manage the team, including providing clear strategic direction, prioritising work, leading a positive workplace culture, including performance management and professional development, and ensuring a collaborative, safe and effective working environment.
5. Oversee the development and maintenance of Auspic’s digital repository, including ensuring a high level of quality assurance of image files and associated metadata for ingestion in the digital asset management system.
6. Ensuring systems and equipment for creating, processing, storing and delivering digital image assets are developed, operated, and maintained in accordance with best practice and effective integration with other systems and processes.
7. Develop, implement and monitor appropriate documentation, procedures and policies.

Conditions of Employment
Employment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:
• Australian citizenship – to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
• Security clearance and character clearance – the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
• Health assessment – a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
