The Opportunity

 

The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for suitable applicants to fill a part-time vacancy (three days per week) for a Coordinator – Social Media and Digital at the PSL 5 level for a period of 6 months to support digital content delivery for the Parliament Shop. 

 

The role will be responsible for writing copy for the online shop product listings, product photography and filming video content, social media and assisting with implementing a marketing strategy. 

 

The Parliament Shop and E-commerce section is part of the Parliamentary Engagement Branch, delivering the Parliament Shop business strategy and establishing a destination shop (onsite and online) to enhance the Australian Parliament’s status as a building and location of national significance. The branch’s business and cultural change strategies are underpinned by extraordinary customer service which will enhance the visitor experience, deepen community engagement, build understanding of the art and architecture, and support the work of the Australian Parliament. The section is committed to being a sustainable, efficient, and collaborative team that embraces innovation and change to deliver exceptional client focus. 

 

The successful applicant will report to the Assistant Director, Digital Engagement & Operations. You will be an experienced in creating and delivering engaging content and writing for web and social media.
 

Who we are looking for

 

The ideal candidate will be experienced in the creation of digital content for an online shop, e-marketing (including e-newsletters) and social media platforms and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. A willingness to work in the shop as part of the retail team will be required on an ad-hoc basis. 

 

The role requires you to support the strategic direction of the Parliament Shop business strategy by delivering quality digital content and efficient administrative support to promote the vision to nurture enduring confidence in, and appreciation for, Australia’s parliament and democracy.

Job Specific Requirements

 

•  A tertiary qualification in marketing, design or related discipline is highly desirable.
•  The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

Duty Statement

Immediate supervisor: Assistant Director, Digital Engagement & Operations

 

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 5 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

1. Plan and schedule digital marketing campaigns aligned with the Parliament Shop’s strategies to enhance audience engagement and growth

2. Develop engaging content for social media platforms through photography and video editing

3. Implement high-quality communication plans for both external and internal messaging in accordance with the Australian Government Style Manual and Parliament Shop strategies and style guides

4. Upload and publish content on the e-commerce website (Shopify), ensuring accurate tagging for internal searching, analytics and search engine optimisation

5. Update and maintain relevant standard operating procedures and manuals

6. Support the strategic direction of the Parliament Shop business strategy by delivering quality digital content and efficient administrative support to promote the vision to nurture enduring confidence in, and appreciation for, Australia’s parliament and democracy

7. Promote and maintain a safe healthy, respectful and collaborative environment that exhibits a professional level of conduct

Salary

 

Currently, the salary range for this position is $86,137 - $92,412 per annum.

 

Conditions of Employment

 

Employment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:

 

•    Australian citizenship – to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen. 

 

•    Security clearance and character clearance – the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check. 

 

•    Health assessment – a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
