The Opportunity
The Department of Parliamentary Services is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 4 Team Leader of the Health and Recreation Centre. The Health and Recreation Centre services APH building occupants to help members achieve their fitness goals. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual who is committed to delivering high-quality fitness services in a customer-focused environment.
This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functioning of the Health and Recreation Centre, including staff supervision, rostering, budget management and the coordination of both individual and group fitness programs. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all areas of the facility are well maintained, safe, and equipped in line with relevant standards.
Administrative expertise will support ongoing reporting and financial management. Experience managing contracts, as well as contributing to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives is key in this role.

The successful candidate will have professional experience in leading a health and fitness facility.
Job Specific Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the health and fitness industry.
- The possession of the following qualifications and registrations:

- Certificate IV in Fitness
- AUSactive Registration
- The possession of the following qualifications or the ability to acquire within agreed timeframe:

- First Aid Certificate
- Bronze Medallion (pool lifesaving)
- Successful candidates must be available to work a range of shifts between, but not limited to the hours of 6.00am to 8.00pm Monday to Friday.
• The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

Duty Statement
Classification: Parliamentary Service Level 4
Branch: Commercial Operations
Section: Health
Immediate supervisor: Manager, Health and recreation Centre
Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 4 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Coordinate the day to day operations of the Health and Recreation Centre including:
Daily management of staff and rostering,
Delivery of individual exercise programs/instruction and group fitness classes
Ensuring that the gymnasium and pool areas are well maintained and all equipment is functional and meets all applicable standards
Undertaking administrative duties
HRC reporting
Manage externally contracted fitness instructors, and
Contribute positively to strategic planning and decision making within the HRC.
2. Assist the Manager with managing financial and procurement responsibilities for the Health and Recreation Centre, including:
Budget planning, monitoring, and reporting
Identifying cost efficiencies and ensuring alignment with departmental financial policies, and
Assisting with procurement of equipment, services, and supplies in accordance with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules and guidelines.
3. Provide advice and support to management and staff on matters including:
Standard operating procedures and key performance indicators
Service delivery, including training and mentoring of staff, and
Liaison with stakeholders on moderately complex operational and administrative matters.
4. Support the development and implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at improving the range, quality, and accessibility of services, promoting increased engagement from building occupants.
5. Oversee the safety of members and the facility, including; where necessary, provision of emergency first aid for clients in the HRC.
6. Other duties as required.

Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the health and fitness industry, including group exercise program delivery and maintaining high level services and amenities.
2. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to deliver high levels of service to a broad range of customers including high profile clients.
3. Demonstrated ability to show initiative, work co-operatively and flexibly, promote a positive culture and lead a small team in a customer focused environment.
4. Demonstrated ability to perform administrative tasks including but not limited to the use of client management, record keeping and data collection systems.
5. Demonstrated experience in financial management and procurement, including rostering, budgeting and contract management in line with the departments policies and procedures.
6. A good level of health and fitness to perform the required physical tasks safely and effectively.

Salary
Currently, the salary range for this position is $80,672 - $87,659 per annum.
Conditions of Employment
Employment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:
• Australian citizenship – to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
• Security clearance and character clearance – the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
• Health assessment – a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
