The Opportunity
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 6 Project Liaison Officer - Electrical within Property Services.
The Property Service Branch is seeking to recruit motivated, adaptable, and innovative person for the Project Liaison Officer - Electrical role within Electrical Services. Electrical Services is a unit within Maintenance Services, responsible for the electrical infrastructure, associated plant and equipment of the building.
Maintenance Services is the maintenance authority for Parliament House and is responsible for repairs and maintenance of the building's structure, fabric, finishes, landscape, and all engineering services such as air-conditioning, power, lighting, hydraulic services, and movement systems.
The Project Liaison Officer - Electrical will be responsible for providing technical support and approvals for programmed works. They will manage minor electrical projects and coordination with other trades and clients, whilst ensuring relevant specifications, statutory codes, WHS policies and procedures are met. In addition to this, the role plays an integral part in the overall support functions for the administration area in Electrical services.

Duty Statement
Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the specified classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Provide clear and accurate communication concerning electrical information and infrastructure to key stakeholders.
2. Prepare, develop, and implement plans and documentation surrounding the electrical infrastructure of Australian Parliament House in support of the Project Delivery, Contract Management and Maintenance Services teams.
3. Conduct quality assurance checks and document details related to electrical work across all relevant projects.
4. Conduct detailed review of technical design specifications, develop and review relevant operation and maintenance manuals and relevant training/handover documentation as they relate to electrical systems across all relevant projects.
5. Provide high-level engagement with Assistant Directors, relaying clear and accurate information regarding projects status, documentation and defects in a timely manner.
6. Manage small-scale electrical projects, including but not limited to developing statements of requirements, stakeholder engagement, project delivery, goods receipting, asset disposal and registration, generating and managing documentation over the lifecycle of the project.
7. Promote and maintain the highest standards of safety across all operations, ensuring compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies and upholding the Parliamentary Service Values.

Selection Criteria
1. Electrical experience in a large commercial setting, including installs and maintenance of electrical systems, with a high aptitude to read and interpret plans and specifications.
2. Experience with providing advice to internal and external stakeholders surrounding complex integrated electrical building systems in a timely and accurate manner.
3. Experience in running small-scale electrical projects, including generating and managing documentation with internal and external stakeholders over the lifecycle of the project.
4. Clear, concise and accurate communication with both internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on strong negotiation and conflict management/resolution skills.
5. Ability to proactively seek out and initiate work in areas of need, committing energy and drive to ensure that goals are achieved.
6. As a member of a team contribute to a proactive workplace health and safety culture and uphold the Parliamentary Service Values of committed to service, ethical, respectful, accountable and impartial.

Salary
Currently, the salary range for this position is $101,168 - $113,706 per annum.
Conditions of Employment
Employment opportunities at the department are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:
- Australian citizenship: Section 22 of the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 requires that employees of the Parliamentary Service are generally required to be Australian citizens. However, if you are not an Australian citizen you may be considered for engagement on the condition that you are able to gain Australian Citizenship within a specified time. Failure to obtain citizenship within the timeframe could lead to termination of employment.
- Loss and resumption of Australian citizenship: Under historical provisions of the Australian Citizenship Act 1948 (section 17), some Australian citizens automatically lost their citizenship if they voluntarily acquired the citizenship of another country between 26 January 1949 and 3 April 2002. This loss occurred by operation of law and may not have been known to the individual at the time. Although these provisions were repealed in 2002 to allow dual citizenship, the repeal did not restore citizenship that was previously lost. Individuals who believe they may be affected are recommended to seek advice about resuming their Australian citizenship. Further information, is available on the Department of Home Affairs website.
- Applicants who progress to the offer stage with our department who have been affected by the loss of citizenship as outlined above will be required to demonstrate within a reasonable time that they have resumed, or are actively undertaking the process to resume, Australian citizenship.
- Security clearance and character clearance: the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
- Health assessment: a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
- External Work Approval: Employees must seek approval for any paid employment outside the department and declare voluntary activities that could impact their role.
