The Opportunity
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a PEL2 Bulk Round - Director - for multiple vacancies across our Department.
DPS provides essential services that enable the work of the Australian Parliament. Our functions are diverse, ranging from library services to building management, security, and cultural heritage. A Parliamentary Executive Level (PEL) 2 role at DPS is an opportunity to contribute to the functioning of Australia’s democracy while leading high-performing teams in a dynamic and unique environment.
This bulk round will identify high-performing leaders who can contribute to DPS in a variety of areas. Instead of applying for multiple roles, you will submit one application that will be considered for all current and future PEL2 vacancies. During your application, you may indicate areas of professional interest, however, you will be assessed against the broad PEL2 requirements and may be considered for any vacancy that aligns with your skills and capabilities.

Job Specific Requirements:
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance relevant to the role.

Duty Statement

Immediate supervisor: Senior Executive Secretary
Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the specified classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Provide strategic leadership and direction to teams delivering complex projects, program, service delivery, policy, or corporate functions.
2. Manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment, balancing immediate operational needs with long-term objectives.
3. Develop and maintain strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, providing expert advice to senior executives and Presiding Officers as required.
4. Apply sound judgement and risk management in decision-making, ensuring compliance with legislative, policy, and governance frameworks.
5. Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and capability development within your area of responsibility.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce high-quality reports and present to senior stakeholders.
7. Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills, identifying priorities and solving complex problems with significant impact.
8. Expertise in finance and resource management, contributing to the development and implementation of strategic initiatives.
9. Role model the Parliamentary Values fostering a culture of integrity, respect, inclusivity, and high performance.

Conditions of Employment
Employment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:
• Australian citizenship – to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
• Security clearance and character clearance – the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
• Health assessment – a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
