The Opportunity
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 4 Maintenance Electrician within Property Services Branch.
Maintenance Services at Parliament House is responsible for repairs and maintenance of the building's structure, fabric, finishes, landscape, and all engineering services such as air-conditioning, power, lighting, hydraulic services, and movement systems.
As part of the Electrical Services team, the successful candidate will be required to contribute to the overall service delivery of Electrical Services by undertaking tasks including, but not limited to, maintenance and repair works to a wide variety of plant and equipment, electrical installation and minor project engagements.
The role requires working with a wide variety of clients, both internal and external to the Parliament, in a dynamic work environment where priorities and deadlines frequently change. The team provides the resources to carry out planned and breakdown maintenance with a mix of in-house trade staff and external contractors.

Job Specific Requirements:
- ACT Unrestricted Electricians licence or the ability to obtain one short notice.
- Ability to work at height (80 meters)
- Trade qualifications relevant to the duties with related experience.
- Work flexible working arrangements, as set out in the Departmental Enterprise Agreement 2024 or any future agreements, to meet operational Requirements. these could include but are not limited to Parliamentary sitting shifts, on-call roster, out of hours work, weekends and duties as required.
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

Duty Statement
Classification: Parliamentary Service Level 4

Section: Maintenance Services
Immediate supervisor: Manager Electrical Services
Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 4 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Undertake all works, including installations, testing and commissioning etc, requiring the application of relevant trade skills, in a proactive manner, ensuring the highest levels of maintenance to the building, plant and equipment.
2. Undertake tasks as a member of the Electrical Services team in either a workshop situation or in the field, with minimal supervision, including outside designated hours, sitting periods, shift and on-call duties as required.
3. Work under limited supervision, assist senior staff to ensure all scheduled and ad-hoc tasks are completed in a timely manner.
4. Assist in the guidance, direction and support of apprentices, other staff including various internal and external stakeholders, along with monitoring the works of contractors.
5. Report and record on completed tasks and other requirements to supervisors and ensure relevant information is entered in the computerised maintenance system.
6. Have and maintain suitable levels of fitness for work, including but not limited to, working at height, first-aid, confined space entry and rescue, climbing ladders, elevated platform access works, lifting, extensive walking and other physical activities as required.
7. Ensure the highest standards of safety, in all areas of operation, in compliance with Work Health and Safety policy.

Salary
Currently, the salary range for this position is $80,672 - $87,659 per annum. The successful candidate is entitled to an additional 17% flexibility loading on top of the salary range.
Conditions of Employment
Employment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:
• Australian citizenship – to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
• Security clearance and character clearance – the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
• Health assessment – a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
