The Opportunity

 

The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Executive Level 1 Cloud Manager within Information Systems Division. 

 

The Cloud Manager reports to the Director of DPS Architecture & Cloud section under the Office of the Chief Information Officer.


The Cloud Manager is responsible for:

 

  • overseeing cloud technology initiatives and the day-to-day operations of DPS cloud computing environments
  • implementing and maintaining cloud infrastructure to support business operations, and
  • developing new strategies or processes to improve the performance of the departments' cloud services.
     

The successful applicant can expect to work within the Information Services Division to deliver diverse technologies that support the operation of the Parliamentary Departments, the Australian Parliament House and Parliamentarians offices around Australia. Who we are looking for

  We are seeking a hard working and motivated individual to work as part of a small team. The successful applicant must have strong skills and experience working with Microsoft cloud technologies, be adaptable and a fast learner, capable of understanding a broad range of business problems while also being comfortable with technical depth.

 

Job Specific Requirements


•   Azure administrator certification, or other relevant microsoft cloud certification will be well regarded.
•  The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.

Immediate supervisor: Director, Architecture and Cloud

 

The Cloud Manager PEL1 is responsible for actively managing key stakeholder relationships within and outside the Department of Parliamentary Services and manages a small work team. This role undertakes work that is very complex or sensitive and operates under broad direction. The role exercises a considerable degree of independence and performs a leadership role in the section. The Cloud Manager PEL1 exercises sound decision-making and judgment and engages in complex problem-solving and issues management. The role may also coordinate and/or undertake detailed or sensitive projects that impact strategic, political, or operational outcomes for the Department of Parliamentary Services. 

 

The duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

 

•    Drive the adoption of cloud services through the development of detailed long-term cloud solutions including suitable alternatives to satisfy the needs of our diverse client base. 
•    Analyses current architecture, to identify weaknesses and opportunities for improvement using cloud solutions.
•    Effectively communicate the vision for the current and future direction of cloud services utilised by the department.
•    Inspire Information Services Division staff to promote and lead change initiatives that improve product and service delivery via the adoption of cloud-first principles.
•    Programme management of cloud initiatives work across Microsoft and other public cloud services and SaaS products.
•    Acts as a subject matter expert on cloud technologies and trends to provide advice and support to relevant stakeholders.
•    Emphasise the adoption of automation and the development of incremental cloud enablement to empower product families and ensure rapid delivery of new capabilities.
•    Stays abreast of emerging cloud technologies and evaluates vendor offerings to determine cost-effective solutions for the department and its clients.
•    Support the Cloud Initiatives Team to meet SLA’s and stakeholder expectations across the programme of work and for managed platforms and products.
•    Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, internal/external stakeholders, and service providers to ensure positive customer outcomes. 
•    Manage, mentor, and provide guidance for team members and subordinate staff. 
•    Liaise and negotiate with other areas of DPS and other parliamentary departments and APS agencies.

Conditions of Employment

 

Employment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:

 

•    Australian citizenship – to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen. 

 

•    Security clearance and character clearance – the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check. 

 

•    Health assessment – a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
